2008 Mission to Georgia (Parliamentary Election)

The observation mission to Georgia in May 2007 was the second mission within the framework of the EOTP project. A group of 36 young people went to observe the parliamentary election in Georgia on 21 May 2008. Among the participants were EHU students and representatives of Belarusian and Swedish NGO's.

Having accomplished the required academic course, observers went to Tbilisi, Georgia, for the actual observation. Prior to that, a briefing on distinctive features of the electoral system of Georgia was held. The EOTP participants were accredited as international short-term observers. They spread around the country to monitor the conduct of parliamentary election. The groups monitored the precincts in Tbilisi, Gardabani, Kakhmeti, Zugdidi, Gori and Kutaisi areas. Preliminary results of the observation were presented in a press-release presented a day after the election. Detailed information on the findings of the EOTP observers in details are available in the recommendation report.
