2012 Mission to Russia (Presidential Elections)

Representatives of the «Election Observation: Theory and Practice» project were on a short visit to Moscow in the presidential elections in Russia, held on March 4, 2012. Their goal was to familiarize with the Russian election procedures and the experience of non-governmental organizations in the election monitoring.

During their visit to Russia EOTP representatives have met the management and volunteers of the Association of Non-Profit Organizations «In Defense of Voters’ Rights „GOLOS“», «Citizen Observer» project, «School of the observers», editorial board of «Novaya Gazeta». In addition, the representatives have taken part in the work of the Situation Centre of «GOLOS» association.

The Mission was organized within the framework of the project «Election Observation: Theory and Practice», co-implemented by three organizations based in Lithuania: Belarus Watch, European Humanities University and Belarusian Human Rights House in Vilnius. Previous project missions observed elections in Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Sweden and the Ukraine.
